Details:
We’ve been playing American roots music together since 1963. We were teenagers then, growing up in the complacent suburbs outside Boston. The popular songs among our friends were AM radio hits like “The Twist” and “Under the Boardwalk.” When we discovered the Club 47 in Cambridge and the Newport Folk Festival, our world changed. Suddenly, we were captivated by songs about ruthless outlaws, stubborn mules, catastrophic floods and fires, faithless lovers who got thrown off bridges, train wrecks, boozing, ghosts, hoboes and general mayhem. Those old blues and ballads inspired this collection, in which you’ll hear echoes of many of the great musicians we’ve been emulating for nearly fifty years, including The Monroe Brothers, Hank Williams, Uncle Dave Macon, Yank Rachel, Dock Boggs, Pink Anderson, Mother Maybelle Carter, Grayson and Whitter, Lead Belly and Doc Watson. Enjoy, and be in touch!
