Carolyn Waters Obin
Soloist/A Cappella Singer/Songwriter/Storyteller
Born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, Carolyn has called New England home for almost two decades. A "shower singer" for most of her life, she is a relative newcomer to the stage where she has continuously developed and honed her musical offerings over the past several years. Whether performing a cappella or with instrumental accompaniment Carolyn has gained a wonderful reputation as a crowd pleaser across the numerous venues in which she has performed (including coffee houses, open mikes, restaurants, community benefits, lounges, musical theatres…).
Singer and Story Teller
Carolyn captivates audiences with her velvety, bluesy voice and delightful storytelling. Moving from folk and gospel to blues and jazz standards, her eclectic musical tastes reflect the myriad of artists she viewed as close childhood friends who arose from her father''s record collection. Old friends such as Billie Holiday, Wes Montgomery, The Beatles, and Miles Davis are joined by modern influences such as Alicia Keys, Phoebe Snow, Harry Connick Jr., and Nora Jones. Carolyn weaves story and song to deliver a distinctive, delightful, and moving a cappella performance.
Songwriter
Most recently, Carolyn has begun to write and introduce original songs into her performances. Songs range from political to inspirational to the good old fashioned foot stomping rhythm and blues.
"Carolyn’s songs are personal and have an emotional quality that moves the soul. Her easy natural style communicates immediately with your heart. Her performance is calm but powerful, putting you at ease and making you feel that all is right with the world. I look forward to hearing Carolyn perform her wonderful creations in the future. The best is yet to come".

Recording Artist
Carolyn has been involved in multiple recording projects. The first "Awakenings", a short collection of a cappella and accompanied songs, was produced to benefit the Network for Women’s Lives, a Domestic Abuse Network operating within Middlesex County, Massachusetts. Carolyn is also a featured vocalist on the No Bad Kid Band CD, "One-Line Raps for Girls and Chaps, Volume One" and their newest CD “Parent Rapsody”.
