Susanna Yoko Henkel was born into a German-Japanese musician family and began to play the violin at the age of two, receiving lessons by her mother. Those followed instructions by Conrad von der Goltz and at the tender age of 12 she enrolled at the music academy in Freiburg/Germany, receiving lessons by Rainer Kussmaul.
Later she has been attending the Munich Academy for five years to complete her studies with Ana Chumachenco.

She was further influenced by Gerhard Schulz, Joseph Silverstein, Györgi Sebok and Lorand Fenyves.

Besides her career as a soloist Susanna Yoko Henkel is a passionate chamber musician. In 2006 she launched her own chamber music festival in Zagreb/Croatia, which has already established itself as one of country’s major cultural events.
