Details:
ftr are an explosion of ideas….. Ranging from irresistible kitsch pop anthems through pumping dance music, chill, a bit of jungle,a tinge of opera, ambience, to scrambled electronica and DJ infected break beats and loops.
ftr is the perfect brainchild for triple ARIA nominated eclectic Lime Spiders drummer turned keyboardist / programmer Richard Lawson and features help from DJ Ben Cox and loop master Jos Burton;
ftr formed in 2008 from the long standing musical partnership with the 3
A CD came out in 1995 under the moniker “Figtree Renaissance” to rave reviews here and in Europe where it still enjoys TV synchronization. It featured appearances from Swedish Vocalist Carina Barbro Hagg who still appears sometimes.
Richard also enlisted an old friend and young DJ Ben Cox and hot new engineer and programmer Jos Burton into the ftr mix and they have given the multitude of new songs a hard bitten sonic dance edge which recalls Daft Punk, Justice and Chemical Brothers.
They performed a few select shows in 2008 plus Richard branched out with Ben to do some DJ sets where it was far more experimental, off the wall and generally far out man!

Their first EP featured their tongue in cheeky house anthem “Boy Racer”. An ode to cycling and sex, it was a breezy four minute dancearama that harked back to 70s and 90s disco, with an irresistible hook, which was picked up by Radio Basile and L’Altraradio in Italy and Rumble Radio in Austria.
There debut was at ANZ Stadium where the clip for Boy Racer was premiered as well on Sun Oct 19 for Spring Cycle NSW where they performed for up to 10,000 people.

"When I first listened to this I couldn''t figure out if they were serious or not and I''m still not sure, but whatever they''re doing it''s catchy, amusing and you can''t help but boogie around to it! The first influences that came to my mind were the Scissor Sisters and Daft Punk, however some of the beats are similar to that of The Chemical Brothers......
