The Finnigan Bros. Band is truly an outlaw band. It has two grizzled old veterans of the music business and… an outlaw.
Mike Finnigan is a legendary sideman having played with everybody from Jimi Hendrix, Joe Cocker and Crosby, Stills and Nash. He has had many solo record deals, most notably on Columbia Records and Warner Bros. where he made an album in Mussel Shoals with R & B legend Jerry Wexler.
Robb Royer was a founding member of the seventies hit factory Bread, picked up an Oscar along the way, and in 1994 moved to Nashville where he co-wrote country hits for Mary Chapin-Carpenter, John Michael Montgomery and Randy Travis.
Sean started out as a piano player and singer in a band like his older brother but things went awry and he wound up singing the blues behind bars. He has since paid his debt to society and put his experience to good use with many years dedicated to twelve-step programs. In between stints of what he calls ‘insisted living’ he has worked in television and advertising. He is the co-author, with Mike’s wife Candy (who appears regularly on the hit TV series ‘Intervention’), of a book on the subject of addiction and intervention.
Robb had worked with each brother individually for years but in 1989 they finally all got together and cut an album, but they didn’t quite finish, didn’t like the only deal they were offered and put it away ‘for a while’.
Cut to 2008 when Mike and Robb were talking and decided to ‘put the damn thing out’ in this brave new world. Robb went to work, transferring the tapes to ProTools and with the help of engineers and players like Harrison Holmes, Chris Clark, Brandon Henegar and John Toomey, started putting the pieces together.
This is the result.
