Lady Cove Women''s Choir has become one of Canada''s leading choral ensembles in a remarkably short period of time. The Choir, based in St. John''s, comprises amateur and professional musicians who are committed to performing at the highest professional standard. Its mission is to reveal to audiences the strength, versatility and beauty of women''s choral music; expand the repertoire for women''s voices by commissioning and reviving works; assist local women''s and children''s special interest groups through charitable activities; and provide talented and dedicated women musicians with exceptional musical and interpersonal experiences.
Since its inception in 2003, Lady Cove Women''s Choir has demonstrated impressive versatility through performances of choral music ranging in styles from classical, gospel and jazz to Latin American and contemporary Canadian. They have been featured nationally on CBC radio and have been heard locally on CBC''s Musicraft, featured on CBC''s The Morning Show and The Weekend Arts Magazine, and appeared on Roger''s Out of the Fog.
In May of this year Lady Cove won first place in the 2008 CBC''s National Radio Competition for Amateur Choirs in the contemporary music category. Most recently, Lady Cove placed first in the Female Choir Category at the 2008 Béla Bartók International Choir Competition in Debrecen, Hungary.
