Details:
Complicated Life, Buranden’s debut EP, is a powerful, cross-genre journey drawing its listeners with a creative balance of driving beats and serene interludes. Pop, electronica and even a little rock meld together, creating an intriguing yet arguably modern sound.
Fans have compared “Kokoro no Naka” in composed simplicity to Gackt’s “Love Letter” and the title song “Complicated Life” to Utada’s “Beautiful World.”
A singer/songwriter who records music in Japanese and English, Buranden became enamored with the Japanese language when his mother took him to a Buddhist Temple holding a yearly Ginza Holiday Festival. Since then, he has immersed himself in the Japanese language, customs and culture, absorbing the world of Japanese pop music.
In middle school, his talents were brought to light when he auditioned and starred in the musical, Into the Woods. Soon after, he went on to perform as Valjean in Les Misérables. In 2005 he studied operatic voice as a Tenor at the Interlochen School for the Arts (a feeder conservatory school for Julliard), performing in roles such as Figaro in Mozart''s Le Nozze di Figaro.
Touring Europe in 2006 as a soloist with a symphonic orchestra and chorus, he sang at venues in France, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Italy and Luxembourg. After returning to America, he worked as a lounge singer to pay his way through college. Later that year Buranden performed with Grammy Winner Reba Rambo and classical crossover group Destino at the Children''s Hospital Benefit Concert in Vancouver, Canada.
After singing as a soloist in Bach’s Magnificat in 2007, he went on to close the year by performing in Tokyo while studying abroad at university. He has refined his voice and techniques by studying with the likes of Dr. Wayne Crannell, Dr. Masako Narikawa, Dr. Sue Cruse, Dr. Tracy Satterfield, Jeffery Norris and Laura Tillotson. In his spare time he listens to music from all regions of the world, especially Japan.
Come on this musical expedition with Buranden’s versatile and expressive sound. Complicated Life touches the heart of everyone who listens to it in many ways…
