“The songs I write and sing are stories that come from experiences in my life. Everything is taken from my heart and soul, and that passion is put into every note of every song. That is what makes the music genuine and real. They are stories that a lot of people can relate to…”
Brad Lee Schroeder was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. He started singing at the age of 11 when he did a great impersonation of Elvis Presley’s “Hound Dog” at a school talent contest. He won first place. From that performance and through high school, Brad would sing constantly at home, in church and at school.
Brad enlisted in the United States Navy two days after his 18th birthday and served honorably for the next 4 years. Though he wrote songs, sang and played guitar with his friends in high school, during his time in the Navy is when Brad started taking singing and songwriting seriously. While stationed aboard the USS Barry, and with the help of a couple of friends from small towns in Kentucky, they formed a make shift band and Brad got his first taste of real down home country music. He loved it.
After his time in the Navy, Brad immediately moved back to Denver and joined up with a couple local acts. But after only two years of playing in cover bands, Brad’s talent and reputation helped advance his career by assuming an equal role in vocals and guitar for another local band named Stray. They had a rock & roll sound, but all original material. Brad had been writing his own songs for years and now he could finally share them with his fans. With Brad’s newly found influences of country music, the band’s sound came together with an amazing style, and for 5 years, Stray was one of Denver’s top local bands. Winning several awards, playing countless shows, opening up for several national acts and even several television appearances on local cable networks.
Since then, Brad’s reputation of incredible live performances and astonishing talent has finally led to the release of his first solo CD. The simple title “Soul Survivor” as well as several songs on the album describe his life story from his early years to how he has developed into an artist well worth the recognition he is due. “The music industry can be tough and it’s hard to survive the twists and turns that wait for you around every corner. You have to believe in yourself, have a strong soul and a heart full of passion to hang on for the ride.” There is a song on this album for every type of country music fan. From classic country to gospel and some of today’s fresh sounds, fans from all walks of life have something to enjoy from Brad’s debut album.
