BIO
Daniel Makins was born into a very musical family in 1978. His parents perform Traditional Cowboy Music and he is a relative of famed “Ballad Hunter,” John A. Lomax. Piano and drums preceded the guitar in the early years, and he is still in demand as a session/side man, working with many great artists including: Dana Cooper, Suzan Gibson, Jeff Plankenhorn, Gordy Quist, Dave Teichrobe, Austin Collins, Graham Webber, and others. This history as a multi-instrumentalist is evident in Daniel’s unique, rhythmic guitar style and original melody construction.
In 2004, Daniel started his concert series in San Angelo that is fast becoming “the place to play” in Texas, regularly drawing 200 people for internationally known songwriters.
Daniel follows in the tradition of great, West-Texas; people-watching writers with genuine stories, humor, and insights audiences find fresh and personal yet familiar. Genre boundaries and labels lose meaning as a wide variety of influences meld song to song. The music is delivered with a grateful smile. –Anna Kate Monroe, freelance writer, Gunnison CO
