Details:
Bassist. Keyboardist. Guitarist. Singer. Songwriter. Producer. In the studio, there''s little Rick can''t do, except play drums. “Never really had room for ''em,” Rick says.

As a California kid growing up the youngest of four, Rick didn''t get much exposure to music in his early years aside from listening to his Mom''s copy of "Alley Oop" and the "Big Bad Wolf" record he got. His oldest sister played Simon & Garfunkel and Chicago records, the latter of which inspired Rick to buy all of their records until the guy that sang like a girl quit (Peter Cetera) .

He followed that with Chuck Mangione and Paul McCartney & Wings records. He also heard lots of music while riding in his other sister''s Volkswagen, including songs that had particularly caught his ear, like "Over My Head," "Rhiannon" and "Say You Love Me".

One day Rick''s parents came home with a horrible acoustic guitar bought in Tijuana. His brother tried to learn it, but gave up on it. Rick picked it up and started taking lessons, and around the same time, his brother put on a record called "Rumours," cranked the volume up to 11 and told Rick that if he can play "The Chain" on guitar, THEN he has really learned to play guitar. He was in AWE.

It turned out the band playing all these great songs was Fleetwood Mac, who would inspire him to become a songwriter. Rick figured the one named "Stevie" MUST be the guitar player -- WRONG (It was Lindsey)! It was a mistake a lot of people made, but man, did they sound GREAT. Rick listened, studied, listened and studied, and listened some more.

Songwriting was where it was at, so in the late 70''s, Rick started writing songs himself. The first to include lyrics was "Emotional Superstition." His brother had already trashed the Tijauna guitar enough in his neo-punk band, "Leolfna and the Olafs", so Rick begged his Mom to help him buy an electric guitar, an awful black Stratocaster clone that never stayed in tune. He later bought another one which was eventually renecked, rewired, and rechristened the Torres TeleStrat. He took the black Strat and smashed it behind his parent''s house. There was NO going back!

While in high school jazz band, Rick eventually got his hands on an electric bass when the bass player flaked out, and by combining the bass clef of electric bass with the treble clef of guitar, he taught himself how to play piano.

After a 1-year stint at Arizona State University studying to be a music teacher, Rick decided it wasn''t practical since schools were cutting back on their music programs. Instead he flung himself into joining various rock bands and honing his craft as a songwriter and musician, both live and in the studio playing bass and keyboards.

After playing in various bands over there years that never seemed to get where he wanted to go, Rick choose to give the music business a break in order to pursue on a new career as a graphic designer. In 1998, Rick returned to his passion for music and has since completely refocused his music talents as a songwriter, producer, arranger, musician and singer by choosing to take on ALL musical roles previously inhabited by unreliable singers and guitarists.

The music you hear on this site are the results of Rick''s hard work over the years. Please take a listen, enjoy, and feel free to let him know what you think.
