Welcome to the music of Sarah Lewis whose groove driven fingerstyle guitar playing combines blues, country, pop and folk . Her natural ability to connect with people shines through in her lyrics and expressive guitar playing, creating her own unique sound.
My earliest musical memory is at age 4 sitting on the settee with a red and cream plastic toy guitar and John Denver pouring out of the family stereo. I was really drawn to the guitar and not long after that my parents started me off with a few lessons. I learnt mainly by ear from listening to blues and rockabilly tapes especially early Elvis tracks.
My early influences were Elvis, Johnny Cash, Bonnie Raitt, Simon and Garfunkel, Mark Knophler, Eric Clapton, Ray Charles, Stevie Ray Vaughan, later adding Oasis, Sheryl Crow, Jerry Reed, White Stripes and Tommy Emmanuel to name a few.
My teenage years found me gigging regularly in Bristol, England playing in a blues trio. A few years later I moved to New York city, formed a band playing original rock tunes and joined Manhattan''s thriving music scene, gigging in venues such as the historic CBGB''s, Luna Lounge, Knitting Factory.
I relocated to Barcelona in 2004 with a bunch of tunes waiting to be introduced to my new abode and a burning passion to carry on playing for people. This time I headed out with just an acoustic guitar and started performing at jam sessions and open mics. Surprisingly I found that the acoustic really gave me my own voice. My sound developed into groove driven fingerstyle arrangements accompanied by catchy lyrics. Word spread and soon I was being offered gigs in restaurants, bars, session work for local TV and as an opening act for local bands. Things have continued to grow steadily and I am enjoying every musical minute there is.
