I am Elizabeth A. Irving(Libby/Libbydocious)Poet/Author, and I''m proud to say this is my debut poetry to music cd.
I want to Thank God for giving me this talent, and I am using it to the best of my ability. I have recited my poetry at many venues: LaPena Cultural Center(Berkeley,CA) Kimball''s East(Emeryville,CA)TR''s Bar and Grill(Concord,CA)Hilton Hotel(Concord,CA) Sheraton Hotel(Concord,CA) Yoshi''s/Jack London Square(Oakland,CA) numerous private parties, church weddings and other church events.
I was the opening act at many of the venues for my sister''s shows (The Dynamic Miss Faye Carol).
I never imagined, in a million years, I''d be reciting poetry in front of big crowds. My sister told me to never say what I couldn''t do, and that was the best advice.
I''m glad God gave me my Mother. My Mother is the force behind my success and she inspires me to do better. What would I do without her?
My Mother exposed me to church at a very young age, and I loved going. To me, the best part of church service are music and the choir singing.
I didn''t begin writing poetry until I was forty years old, so I''m proof positive that it''s never too late to reach for and attain your dreams and goals.
Writing poetry helps me tap into my innermost feelings, and be able to share them without being afraid. Yes, fear of what other people thought of me stopped me from moving forward. I had to go around that barrier, because I know what I like. I realize I can''t please everybody, but I continue to reach out to touch people in a positive way. I leave it up to the individual who reads my material to interpret it the way he/she sees fit.
Producing this cd was a wonderful experience, and I love every poem on it. The music takes my poetry to another level, and I hope you enjoy listening to it.
