Although she sports no handlebar mustache, Merrily Wright''s original poetry and songs reflect authentic insight into modern life on an isolated cattle ranch.
Merrily lives on the third generation family owned Marys River Ranch 20 miles north of Deeth, Nevada which has a 75 year tradition of ecological ranching and currently operates using holistic methods. There, with her husband John, she has spent the past fifteen years learning to: interpret one-word cowboy dialog, perform amateur C-sections on cows, help as a good backup cow dog and find haycrews. She and John have 5 children ages 8,10,11,13 and 2, three boys and two girls whom they homeschool.
Her unique experiences on an isolated ranch have fed her poetic habit which has pleased audiences at the Elko Cowboy Poetry Gathering, Oregon/California Trail Association Convention, Claremont Colleges and other western events for the past eight years.
Merrily presents to her audiences a refreshing and polished performance which rouses laughter, tears and enchantment. She covers such topics as family, ranch- life, God, cattle and the ecological benefits of cow chips and grazing.
