Details:
2002 through 2007 kept Paul on the road, recording and touring worldwide with Austin, Texas based Spoken Groove. As a soloist, a wealth of material has been at his side, releasing 3 solo CD’s.
2009 brings his beautiful new CD "The Butterfly". An absolute treasure of sound. it is a very well timed CD for this day and age.
A solo guitarist of first rank, it is always a treat to hear him sing through his instrument. “I always have the guitar with me. It’s my paintbrush. I choose to live though it, or should I say, it lives through me.” His songwriting is usually image based, telling the story of the subject in the language of sound. Birds, war, nature, romance. And he can shred with the best of them. Paul''s unique "melody strumming" creates the sound of multiple guitars from one instrument. His percussive techniques are always an unexpected element thrown in to the mix.
Look for him performing solo these days in Austin, regionally and abroad.
Performances have brought Spoken Groove repeatedly to England, Germany, Australia, The U.S. & Canada; festivals such as: Soul Survivor (England), Cornerstone, Youth Specialties, Emergent Conventions, A.C. Radio Seminar, Ichthus Festival, Pitch & Praise (Canada), opening for or appearing with the likes of Jars Of Clay, Water Deep, Lost & Found, Mercy Me, Amy Grant, Shaun Groves, Mitch McVicker, and David Crowder. Touring venues include colleges, bars, conventions, poetry slams, coffee houses, churches, prison, youth camps, schools, homes, even a classy Waffle House parking lot.
Wrap up these skills and experiences with an inseparable love of the outdoors and stupid jokes, it all comes out the hands of Paul Finley.
