Details:
Chomper & Morlium, a spoken music collaboration comprised of two men, several keyboards and lots of ambition, represent two distinctly different dreams converging to create one alternate reality. In their simplest form, they are a spoken word act; at their most complex, they are deconstructionists.
Chomper met Morlium in high school, and have since developed a relationship that has spanned nearly 15 years. One, a digital music enthusiast, the other, a struggling poet; both had laid claim to certain avenues that needed exploration. As one wandered the open mic scene with a boombox of prerecorded background noise, the other quietly honed his skills on various electronic instruments-both struggling with personal trials, neither losing sight of their dreams. The twain finally took the leap into a combined live effort, and on Tuesday, July 24, 2001, before a small crowd at an even smaller restaurant in Port Jefferson, N.Y., something magical happened. Since, they have played countless open mics, and performed numerous times as both opening and feature acts.
While still pursuing their own separate interests, Chomper & Morlium offer a unique blend of atmosphere and attitude, amalgamating their respective worlds into an unprecedented array of energy. With infectious beats and influences ranging from industrial to folk, Chomper & Morlium bring the world of poetry to new and exciting levels, showing whomever might be listening that there are still unexplored niches in any genre; it only takes the right amount of pressure to squeeze in.
