MP3 Jim Brannigan - The Black Velvet Band
The Black Velvet Band is a delightful collection of some of the most often sung Irish and Scottish folk songs. There''s even an English song in there but it''s quite lovely. If you can hear this album all the way through, you''re just not singing loud enough
12 MP3 Songs in this album (44:21) !

This album was recorded at Blacktail Studios in the beautiful Highlands just outside of Victoria, BC, Canada.
These songs have been with me since my childhood and are as much a part of growing up in my part of Scotland as howling winds and liquid sunshine.
I really hope you like them.
A long time favourite artist of mine, Eileen Donaghy, passed away just about the day I started recording this album and it is for her that I have recorded “The Spinning Wheel”. I learned it along with many other fine songs from listening to her recordings and can still hear her rendition of “The Lark in the Clear Air” inside my head as if I heard it only yesterday.
Thank you, Maisie.
The Musicians: Once again, Denis Wightman (salt of the earth) joins me on this album. He dropped by and played whistle on “The Drunken Sailor” but what a difference he makes even with one song.
My darling wife, Brenda Callan plays fiddle on a couple of the slower songs as only she can. I love her dearly but I’m thinking, we must have been together for a long time now because she often refers to herself as “The long suffering Brenda Callan”.
We also have one very special guest this time around.
Jim Smerk (Smurf) is an extremely talented, multi instrumentalist from Amerikay whom I have never met but due the wonders of modern technology and the fact that he owns and operates his own studio, joins us here on bass guitar.
Thank you for spending some time with me here and please do take the time to enjoy some of the clips.
Best Wishes.
Jim
