The Birth of ROCK en ESPAÑOL in the USA. The early days.
This is the one and only recording from ZERIMAR – the first California group to perform and record Spanish language Rock Music targeted specifically to Spanish speaking youth. Spearheaded by a most unlikely source, a young record executive from Canada, convinced Chris, Marty & Fred, all brothers that Spanish Language Rock was inevitable and unquestionably on the horizon. Madrid was already taken over by a new musical movement and America could not be far behind. With the songwriting talent and musicianship this not only made sense, but it felt good too.
California Spanish language radio was all over this album (thanks to radio KLVE/Los Angeles) from the very first single "Soló Sueños", to the bilingual power ballad "Amiga" and then again with the gigantic radio sensation of "Besalo y Dile Adiós", (the Rock/Salsa/Flamenco version of the rock classic "Kiss Him Goodbye"). As soon as "Besalo y Dile Adiós" was released, it skyrocketed in several markets including: Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York City, Puerto Rico, Texas and Chicago. Top international DJ, Rick Dees, while on a promotional tour of Mexico, happened to hear it one night in a club and couldn''t wait to air it on Los Angeles radio station KIIS-FM. Shortly thereafter, Anheuser-Busch incorporated the Zerimar version of the song into a Budweiser commercial campaign. Yet another track "Embrujado" (featuring Tim Gorman - keyboardist for The Who), was picked up ABC Network Television in association with 20th Century Fox for a TV series in the late 1980''s (Heart Of The City).
