Marty Morrissey and Robert Resnik have been playing music together for almost 20 years in many groups, including celtic music with the popular New England trio the Highland Weavers and schmaltzy swing as the Tin Pan Valentinos. Their 2nd CD of Vermont songs and tunes is all about Lake Champlain, and was released on January 1, 2009, the first day of the 400th anniversary year of Samuel de Champlain’s first visit to the lake which bears his name.
Facts About the Musicians:
Marty Morrissey- Marty is one of the most respected Celtic traditional musicians in northern Vermont, and over the past 25 years has released 3 recordings with the Highland Weavers and a number of solo recordings. In addition to singing many of the songs, Marty is an expert on the bodhran and the English concertina.
Robert Resnik – Robert is a well-known Vermont musician who works full-time at the Fletcher Free Library, the public library of Burlington, Vermont. He has also been the host of a popular folk and world music program every Sunday afternoon on Vermont Public Radio since 1996. On this album Resnik sings and plays guitar, button accordion, mandolin, banjo, a variety of wind instruments, and a hurdy gurdy!
