Details:
• The ability of Michael Mc Ginnis to captivate and transform groups is magical.
His enthusiasm and joy for life seems boundless, although his journey has not always been a bright one. His quest for grace has led him down many roads, and has provided a tapestry of colorful experience to draw from.
• During his long career as singer, songwriter, actor, poet, and storyteller, Michael directed the music for, and performed with the internationally popular New Christy Minstrels, a group that spawned Kenny Rogers, Kim Carnes, and Barry McGuire. He has also toured extensively with his own band The Rodeo Gypsies, and as a single performer. Michael has six major label recordings to his credit, and was the first artist to produce a full-length music video for EMI Video, before music video even existed. He records currently for SHADOW HILLS RECORDS. Many major artists including Kim Carnes, Don Henley, Michael Mc Donald, Wayne Newton, and Captain Kangaroo have recorded his songs. As an actor he has done episodic TV, commercials, and feature films. He is a published poet, and contributes to several literary magazines.
• Michael’s successes were clouded by a progressively downward struggle with alcoholism and addiction. Miraculously, in 1983, he entered recovery, and began the greatest experience of them all… Sobriety!
Today he uses his talent to share his experience, strength, and hope, in a sensitive and disarming manner; bringing his core message, that OUR SELF ESTEEM IS IN DIRECT PROPORTION TO OUR CONSCIOUS CONTACT WITH GOD to bare in a wide variety of venues, most notably the YMCA movement. All of the tunes on "We Can Make it Happen" Have been either been inspired by, or used as theme songs for YMCA Christian Laedership Conferences.
