Cool! Now that you''re finally here, tune in, enjoy the sound bytes to the left and chill out while I tell you a bit about myself.
My name is Allan Chapman. I created this album pretty much all myself (yeah, I still call them "albums"). I played all the instruments - guitar, bass, drums, vocals, percussion - wrote it, recorded it, mixed it. It''s been a long & productive journey. A couple of very cool women helped me out as well. April Barci wrote an inspiring poem called "Do You Believe" that I turned into a song. Her written word connects with me and she''s an incredibly talented artist, too! Janine Vena sang backup vocals on every other song and sang some dual lead vocal on "Heart And Soul Of Me". Killer voice, great friend and spirit! Other than these exceptional ladies, it''s all me in there (I even designed the album graphics, too!).
As for other useful info about me, I''m all about music I grew up with, mostly great guitar rock & soul from the 70''s...you know, Led Zeppelin, Neil Young, Humble Pie, Isley Brothers, Stevie Wonder. These bands/artists (with a host of others) always make their way into music. But that''s not all I''m about. In my adoption of veganism and having an interest in our Earth Mother, my songs are about love, peace and unity with a style that I believe is pretty direct and unique. Basically, what you hear is what you get is what I am. I''m about honesty, especially in my music.
I''m also part of a great conscious community of friends who do amazing work for the land, all beautiful in their own right. We get together often to co-create music & magic. I love them dearly. Just thought I''d mention that.
What else? I can sit here and tell you that I was raised in the NY/NJ metro area and have played in clubs, cafes, bars and festivals with various bands for years, but you''d most likely get bored quickly reading that stuff. Listening is believing.
So, listen! I hope you dig it. I do.
And if you do, buy one and spread the word to your vegetarian (or carnivore) cousin upstate, your "cool" hippie aunt & uncle in Berkeley, or your guru in Nepal! The follow-up record is being created as you read this.
And yes, I accept email from total strangers with something interesting to say. We''re all connected...
Peace and power (the good kind) to you,
Allan
