Details:
Invocal are a female acoustic band that perform with cello, guitar and harmonious voices. Their songs tell tales of modern life - with wry, theatrical humour, powerful and moving lyrics and (most days) expert musical prowess.
This new album has already wowed fans and reviewers:
"I have seen Invocal on a number of occasions and consider them to be one of the most genuinely unique, and intensely entertaining acts in the UK today. This gig has confirmed first place. The new Album, "I Can''t Say No to the Slugs" is jaw droppingly powerful.
It was wonderful being a part of the audience. We were all electric with excitement, drinking in the new material we had all waited for so long. A couple of older songs were played, and the audience, we sang along. A survey to see who had travelled furthest to see Invocal (it was either some people from Jersey or some from West Wales), humorous heckling, an insistance by the audience that we should hear Sarah''s masterpiece, Horse in a Box. A thoroughly amazing evening, and I go to a lot of gigs. It was a shame that the venue hadn''t been able to hold 3 times as many people, fewer then would have missed out on this mindblowing event. It would have been great if Invocal had played as many encores as we wanted them to, they only did one, despite the hulaballoo from fans..." PHILL WILLIAMS, GINGER BEER
The band have performed together for six years and have toured the UK, France, Germany and republic of Ireland. They enjoy playing events such as Cambridge Folk Fesival, London Pride, Brighton Pride, an array of cool small folk festivals, theatres, dodgy bars and playhouses. Both their live show and their 2 full length albums have received excellent reviews on the UK folk/acoustic scene and the international gay press, reviewers favouring their restless musical arrangements, heartfelt honesty, wicked wit and genuine originality.
"This cute band from Northampton are caustic, funny, engaging and so damn harmonic they''re hard to put down" - CURVE MAGAZINE
"The all female quartet boast tight, original and highly accomplished musicianship...and even when they sing angsty love songs they''re lucid and quirky" DIVA MAGAZINE
