Relax--feel the sand between your toes, the heat of the campfire upon your face, hear its crackle; a soft breeze scented with the islands drifts gently off of the calm water and whispers lightly past you. I pick up my acoustic guitar.

-About Me-

I dreamt of sailing. Saw pictures, heard stories. Born in the islands. Raised on a boat ‘til age 5, raised in Indiana ‘til 22. Wanted to go back.

Envisioned myself in isolated, secret lagoons, camping simply upon their silent beaches. Felt the salt on my skin, the sand on my feet. Could hear the breeze rustling through the palms.

Heard songs that kept me dreaming. Picked up a guitar, never put it back down. Kept me moving toward the aspiration of serious cruising.

Learned to sail on a Styrofoam boat. Named her Daydream, made me itch. Drank beers while sailing with my best friends. One at a time. Boat held two. People. Held plenty of beer.

Ran like hell after finishing school. Saved some coin, bought an inexpensive boat. A real boat. Drove a 20-year-old Jeep CJ-7 twenty-seven hours straight to the boat. Got a job. Eventually fixed her up. Went sailing.

Sailed for a year. Worked when needed, played when not. Travelled throughout the Caribbean, as far south as Grenada. Fought with a hurricane. Hurricane knocked me down, but not out.

Surfed when opportunities arose. Surfed windy closing beaches, surfed glassy peeling reefs. Scars to prove it. Proud of the scars.

Sailed home. Sold the boat, bought some land. Drove a 20-year-old Jeep CJ-7 twenty-seven hours straight home. An old farm house came with the land. Started remodeling the farm house.

Met my soul mate. Courted her, impressed her (thankfully). Don’t have to try. Just is. Love. She brought dogs, cats, and horses. Accommodating them.

Staying close to nature. Plant gardens, reap them. Camp, canoe, fish, sometimes all three. Strum the guitar always. Enjoy cocktails.

Still remodeling the farmhouse.

I dream of sailing…

-About this CD-

Hosted an open mic night. Good feedback, decided to record an album. Recorded all songs on a cheap but effective laptop with cheap but effective USB interface and two mics. One to sing into, one to pick up the guitar.

Couldn’t overdub. Right hardware, wrong software. Guitar and voice were recorded at the same time. Recorded it like it''s performed. Minimal editing. KISS method. Hope you enjoy!

Don''t expect country or country rock. Country boy, not country fan. Was at a Tom Petty show once, he said "I heard one of those country rock stations... It ain''t country, it ain''t rock, but I''m pretty sure--it sucks." My sentiments exactly.

Don''t expect folky folk. Chill folk pop rock, not hill country folk. A bit of modern folk. A bit of beach folk. All acoustic. Stuff you can relax too but also nod your head to.

Don''t expect whining. Don''t whine, drink wine. Too much folk is whining. These songs are sung, not cried. Buckcherry sucks. Country twang whiners suck. There are a lot of whiners in punk too.

Don''t expect these songs to move the world. They''re about my experiences, and these experiences haven''t moved the world. Maybe they''ll make you happy. Maybe you''ll bust a move. That''s good enough.

Cheers!
