“With this album comes a lot of firsts…Some of the first music I’ve ever written has finally been realized as this is my first time in a studio recording my own music, and this is also my first release under my own name. I feel a watershed has been reached in my career, and even though I would have preferred to just perform this material, (as the recording process makes me very uncomfortable) I also feel that making an ineffaceable statement is vital. This music provides the listener with a clear idea of my musical conception and direction and I hope anyone who takes the time to listen finds some type of enjoyment and inspiration. Even though this is my first album I assure you it will not be my last, I’m just getting started…”

Mike’s Bio:
Mike Stockbridge was born December 31st, 1976 in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. He took an interest in the guitar at the age of 9 and began studying at a local music academy with classical guitarist Lance Gunderson, a former Berklee faculty member and highly regarded teacher throughout New England. Throughout his adolescence he continued to study privately with a variety of guitar instructors, most notably Plymouth State faculty member Paul Bourgelais, learning everything from basic jazz to rock. In 1996, Mike was accepted to the world-renowned Berklee College of music in Boston MA. His time at Berklee found him sharing the halls with such talent as Gavin Degraw, John Mayer, and Avishai Cohen. He was exposed to many new concepts in music by such teachers as: Larry Baione, Mike Williams, Tony Gaboury, Bruce Saunders, and Brett Wilmott as well as many others. In 1998, Mike left Berklee to tour the east coast blues circuit backing both MA harmonica sensation ''Tall'' Richard Roquemore and Carolinas Blues legend David ''Rock Bottom'' White. When Mike returned to NH he spent the next year studying jazz repertoire with pianist Charlie Toor as well as freelancing around Maine, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts. In 2003 Mike decided to continue his studies in music and enrolled at the University of Maine. During this time he had the privilege of performing under the direction of drummer/composer, Steve Grover. Upon graduating from the University of Maine Mike moved back to New Hampshire where he resides presently.
Over the years Mike has found himself playing in many different situations. From his experience as a blues sideman to two small time blues artists to his stint with Boston based experimental funk sextet ''The Greezy Bastids'' Mike has proven his willingness to work with most anyone in any situation. While happy with all of his playing experiences, he has never lost sight of his original goal - developing his own sound in the Jazz genre. Being more concerned with originality and open artistic interpretation, Mike bucks what is considered the norm by going with what works rather than what is hip, and while he doesn''t lean toward overly analytical approaches in music, one can find clear testament to his education and expertise through his compositional work. 2008 marks the debut of Mike''s first full length, self titled album as a bandleader, which proves he is set to embark on a new phase in his performance career.
