Details:
As a child of Southern California, it was perhaps inevitable that Sharon Cort''s foray into the music world would take the form of bluegrass/folk neo-traditionalism. Sharon began performing in clubs such as The Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, Venice''s Sidewalk Cafe, The Palomino, and The Breakaway, sharing the stage with acts such as Lucinda Williams, Jim Lauderdale, Peter Case, and others during the "new Folk" boom happening in L.A. in 1987.
She quickly expanded to national recognition with her vocal and songwriting talents and her first CD, "Highway To Here." She was featured in American Songwriter and New Country Magazine and asked to showcase before the International Bluegrass Music Association in 1998, and after successfully touring Europe for over 8 years with her stellar band, featuring Tom Corbett (String Wizards, Robin & L Williams), Butch Baldassari (Nashville Mandolin Ensemble, Homespun Tapes) banjo legend Bill Keith and others, Sharon is finally getting the U. S. recognition she deserves.
Her songwriting talents are featured on this CD, including the gospel "Many Mansions," her biographical "Roses On My Street," a dreamy and haunting "Maiden on the Bow," and the gypsy-ish "Stranded." There are no musical confines in which to describe her music. It''s up to the listener to guess.
