SKAMP burst onto the music scene in May of 1998 in Lithuania with a hip-hop cover version of George Gershwin''s "Summertime". The number shot straight to the top of the charts proving that their multi-cultural, multi-lingual style worked and many hits, success, late-nights, hangovers, burning-outs, tours and fans followed. Since then, the group have gone on to release four albums and are one of the most respected live bands in Lithuania having won a long list of music awards along the way.
SKAMP consists of Erica Jennings, Vee Diawara and Vilius Alesius who write their own lyrics, produce and compose their own music, direct / produce their music videos and even design their album covers. They enjoy different musical styles and incorporate this into their music by working with renowned jazz, rock, blues and classical musicians. The result is an eclectic pop sound which is, perhaps, due to their different cultural backgrounds. Erica''s from Ireland, Vee is originally from Mali while Vilius was born and raised in Lithuania. The group met long before their future success of ''98, the boys having gone to school together in Germany and then having met Erica years before in Lithuania.
In many ways, SKAMP has set new standards in Lithuania by being behind the largest advertising campaign in the country and performing only live onstage in all venues, from school halls to clubs to stadiums.
LE BOOM-CHICK (2000) is their 1st remix album using tracks and previous hits from their 1st 2 albums "Angata" and "Green".
