Details:
Born and raised in Southern California, Leslie began her musical career
learning to play the saxophone in the 5th grade. Soon after graduating from
highschool, she joined a local big band, Big Wednesday.
Today, twenty plus years later, she is still playing alto sax and is the female vocalist with that same band! Leslie also plays her saxophone in a nine piece swing band, The Reflections, and with the help of drummer friend, Bob Morphis, started Swing 4 Sale three years ago. Her day job is Junior High English teacher with the Upland Unified School District.
Bob Morphis, born and raised in the shadow of the Burbank studios, started banging the drums at age nine under the guidance of Hack O''Brien (Mouseketeer, "Cubby" O''Brien''s dad). By age 21 he had been in three successful recording bands. His first international release came in 1978 but, with limited acclaim, he decided to take a "day job" to dedicate more time to his family. Now, as executive director to a nonprofit company that puts on teaching shows in elementary schools, he cuts his creative "chops" writing their shows and songs and drumming and singing in "Swing 4 Sale".
Jim Allen has been playing bass for quite a few years in almost every venue including: lounges, restaruants, nightclubs, bars, country clubs, and fine hotels. He''s performed as a single act, in duos, trios, quartets, on up to
17 piece big bands. Being quite versatile, Jim is comfortable playing Swing, Latin, Country, Dixieland, "Oom-Pa" (German) and jazz.
With Swing 4 Sale, Jim can clown around and tell silly jokes but is also serious about providing the kind of music people can enjoy and dance to, while bringing back some of their memories of old times and old loves.
He is currently retired and living with his lovely wife up in a desert home enjoying the slower pace and communing with nature.
