Details:
While spending his elementary years in the city before moving to the wide-open country and then to Nashville, Tennessee, Tony Steiner is one who has grown accustomed to the changing world around him. However, one thing has not changed since the young age of three. That would be his love of singing and country music. Tony grew up in the city of Worthington, Ohio. He was born to John and Debbie Steiner. When he was just a baby, on more than one occasion you could find him fast asleep in front of his dad’s speakers playing old country songs such as Alan Jackson’s “Chasin’ That Neon Rainbow” and Dolly Parton’s “Rockin’ Years.” Tony found out his love for the stage at the age of three when his mom and dad entered him in the Christmas show at their Church. Tony sang the song “Oh Happy Day” from the movie Sister Act and from that day on, he has never left the stage and the center of attention. Throughout elementary and middle school, Tony was involved in many different things including school plays, soccer, and church. In seventh grade at the age of 12, his family moved out of the city limits of Worthington into the wide-open country of Delaware, Ohio. When he hit high school, Tony’s career in music started to grow. He became involved in every aspect of Buckeye Valley High School’s music department while continuing to sing in his new church Hyatt’s United Methodist. Church and School became his two biggest venues to the point where he was asked to sing at every school concert, various sporting events, and at church a couple times a month.

Tony’s career took a step further in 2003 when he was asked to sing for a wedding at Central Ohio’s Relay for Life and once again at the age of 17 in 2005. Tony was driving his truck to school one day when he heard a contest on the radio. He did not think anything about it until he got to school and everyone kept asking him if he had heard about it and if he was going to try out. He went home that day and heard about it again so he called the radio station that next morning and auditioned a song right over the phone. They must have liked him because he was asked to be downtown the next morning at the headquarters for 92.3 WCOL, Ohio’s 1 country radio station. He was competing with three other contestants that morning for a chance to compete in the finals three weeks later. He sang Kenny Chesney’s “She Thinks My Tractor’s Sexy” on the air that morning and won by popular vote from an online voting pool. Three weeks went by and he was back at the radio station competing against the three finalists from the other weeks. This time he sang Garth Brook’s “The Dance” on the air. The online voting went on for three days and on the third day he got a call from WCOL’s Woody & the Wakeup Call telling him that he had won the entire contest and would be receiving front row tickets to a Kenny Chesney concert and the chance to meet him backstage. Two months later, Tony was asked to audition for yet another contest. This time it was the Delaware Gazette’s Divas and Dudes Singing Competition. He sang in the first round and was selected to the finals but his audition was cut short after the first round because he could not make it back from Nashville.

Tony graduated BVHS with aspirations of becoming a country singer. He was accepted to Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee as a Commercial Voice Major. There, Tony was introduced to some of Nashville’s finest musicians and songwriters. This curbed his appetite for songwriting causing him to write his first song not a month after school started about a girl he met his first week. Tony has continued songwriting along with playing guitar, singing, and playing piano ever since that day he wrote his first words onto that piece of paper. Ever since then, Tony has been teaming up with many of these fine musicians in order to satisfy his craving for creating music. There is one thing in this world Tony was made for and every step he takes, every move he makes brings him one step closer to making his dreams come true. Ask him what he sees himself doing in 5 years and he will tell you it starts with a few notes and ends with a smile on the face of country music fans everywhere.
