In the quiet time of my hitch in the U.S. Coast Guard, I started a little 3 piece band in a beach bar on Padre Island, Texas called the Trade Winds. The crowds soon grew too big for the little bar, and we started working bars, proms, Rotary Clubs, and eve a radio show for tourists, called "The Connie Greene Program" out of Brownsville, Texas.
Later I was transferred to Oahu, Hawaii where I played at the Barber''s Point White Hat Club on a large Navy base. Back in the states after by hitch, I tied up with a Tex-Mex record label out of Pharr, Texas. I simply sent the label a demo tapet that was too short for his big reel to reel tape recorders, so he showed up at my door. The radio play for simple guitar and vocal on a record was amazing.
There have been ups and downs in my music career, but I''m thankful that come what may, that I''ve had these chances. I remember, one time, just to save a little money, a friend and I set out to write my bio. We used the savings to buy some brews, and to help our writing skills. I still get asked strange things from the overseas DJs (bless their hearts) because of that bio.
