Details:
Oun P, a South Bronx native and Murda Mook a Harlem resident met for the first time in 1999 on the Basketball courts of Riverbank Park in New York City. It’s a wonder that these two rapping Ball Players with so much in common had not collaborated until early 2008. Between the years of 1999 and 2008 Murda Mook & Oun P was headed in the same direction but on two separate paths.
While under the tutelage of Harlem’s rap royalty Murda Mook found his swagger and gained confidence and skills allowing him to eventually make his way onto several street DVD’s, namely the streets favorite, ‘Smack DVD’. On the battle fields of New York City Mook found himself running through opponents leaving a wake of rap victims behind. Oun P on the other hand, being no stranger to the battle circuit gained his respect in New York City’s famed, ‘Fight Club’. He later went on to dominate the national stage by taking home the 7 week championship on ‘BET’s 106 and Park’, netting the show it’s highest ‘Freestyle Friday’ ratings in a long time.
With a push from a mutual friend these two talented MC''s finally came together at ‘Beat Brokerz Studio’s’ in the Bronx to record a song (Nothing Changed) for a mixed tape. The two immediately realized that their chemistry was undeniable. While faced with the reality that battle rappers in the past have not been able to graduate to commercial success, the two set out to break the “STEROETYPE”!!!
