Details:
Dan Reiser is Asheville, North Carolina’s greatest liar. (This bio can’t be trusted, but it’s the only bio the artist would approve.)
His debut album, Fallen Angels, includes songs about buried treasure, Mayan rain gods, Van Gogh, aliens, and Africa...and two songs about love.
This album, Final Days, is a little more country and a lot more apocalyptic.
Yes, he’s lied about them all. Songwriter Dan Reiser has no actual experience in any of these subjects except love, and his wife says he has no experience in that.
Reiser thinks he probably is Asheville’s greatest thief also. “My rhythms are stolen from world music, the harmonies are from the doo-wop era, and many of the melodies are reminiscent of 50s and 60s music,” he claims. (He doesn’t want you to know it, but he has been involved in Asheville’s music scene longer than most of that storied scene’s scenesters.)
Dan Reiser thinks you should buy these tunes, if you don’t mind a little thieving and lying. He’d also like you to buy his sculpture at https://www.tradebit.com.
”I’m either a musician working as a sculptor, or a sculptor working as a musician,” Reiser says. Apparently he is not only a thief and a liar, but a multitalented schizophrenic too.
A Few of the Lies:
I was living my life like I was fighting a war.
Angel of New Orleans
I did nothing and I did it well
And then I’d rest a spell.
When God looks me over
He''ll see I ain''t done much.
All he''ll see are scars and few tattoos.
Scars and Tattoos
There ain’t no moon tonight,
There’s only satellites
Shining on the world below
Telling lies to the radios.
Damn all the nation''s pride
And dman religion ''cause it just divides,
The world is changing every day
How come it''s still the same.
Cops in camouflage with
Budweisers and a pack of dogs.
One Country
Once so strong, I can tell that our rhythms gone.
And our lives are reduced
To a yard sale on our front lawn.
Building a Wall
Everybody’s looking for something not to say,
Everyone is so afraid of what their words might betray, We think if we say nothing
We just might be right.
The water''s cold and dark
And your fears swim like sharks
In the well deep inside
Everyone
Where tears come from.
Where Tears Come From
