Violet Ray is an independent professional singer / songwriter with her debut c.d. "Good Things" currently on Canadian Country radio and a brand new single "Workin On It".
Born in Winnipeg, her formative years were spent in London, Ontario, she now lives and sings in Toronto. Recently, Violet took part in the "Bluebird North" songwriters showcase hosted by The Songwriters Association of Toronto. She shared the stage with such musical talents as Jane Siberry, Skydiggers and Dean McTaggert. Violet has taken part in Ontario Contact and was chosen to showcase in the Glenn Gould Studio. Her performance was taped by CBC radio for future broadcasts featuring Canadian independent talent.
"Good Things" was released on her own label, Climb-It Records and was partially funded by F.A.C.T.O.R. Canada. The success of her first single "Why" led to a second release and video for "Good Things", the title track, shot in the mountains north of Mexico City. The video was sent to C.M.T. for broadcast.
A subsequent third release "Three Long Days" was successfully tracked through the summer of 2000. All three singles released on her own label reached into the top 40 on the Canadian Country Chart.
Violet has recorded a new c.d. co-produced by Steve Fox due to be released in 2004. She has showcased her new material in Nashville, TN at notable establishments as The Broken Spoke, Market Street Station, Radio Café and the famous Blue Bird Café on Sunday Featured Songwriters Night. Upcoming showcases include Tin Pan North for the Nashville Songwriters Association and Hughs Room in Toronto.
Her itinerary includes recent Canadian music festival dates including The Havelock Jamboree, Burlington Sound of Music Festival and performances for a number of notable corporate companies such as Kimberly Clark, Avon, Merick Frosst and most recently she performed for the celebration of the union between Toronto Dominion Bank and Canada Trust at Chateau de Charme in Niagara-On-The-Lake.
Violet was recently nominated for "Rising Star" by the Ontario Country Performer and Fan Association.
Alone on stage or backed by her band, she delivers an electric performance wherever she plays.
