One of the greatest inventions of the past century is rock n roll and just in case anyone was in danger of forgetting it, then VINYL from Reykjavik, Iceland have made it their mission in life to remind rest of the world how important it is. They play it loud and even a little bit sleazy and make no apologies along the way. Their roots are as much in the testosterone punch of Guns N Roses as the amphetamine crush of the Stooges.
The boys in VINYL have been together for nearly two years now and they''ve found the combination that works best for them. They''re an enthusiastic group of friends who have been making music together on and off for quite some time.
Considering all the attitude that goes into a VINYL performance, it''s no surprise that their show at the largest venue in Iceland''s capital got the crowd excited as they opened for the Foo Fighters this year. One of the four songs on their debut EP is called Miss Iceland. Much like the models he sings about, Kristinn struts up and down the stage taunting the audience as he goes.
VINYL have been around long enough to decide where they''re going. The past year has been a busy one with performances around the USA and UK and the recording of their debut EP with producer Solvi B (of Quarashi) . There have also been videos for Nobody´s Fool and Who Gets The Blame - two of the singles from the upoming EP. Nobody´s Fool topped the alternative chart and Who Gets The Blame followed in 4th place. The videos have been aired and requested loads on the local MTV and the band received 3 nominations at the Icelandic Alternative Awards for best band, best song and best singer.
