The Italian Market is a great food & wine emporium in Crofton, Maryland. Its owner, Vincenzo Lomoriello is one of those cheerful Italians who lives to make his customers happy; more than that, he is a true bon vivant who shares his friendship and good cheer with all who come to his place. The mere thought of Italy and its people bring to mind visions of good friends, good food, wine and music; additionally, this is the birthplace of Fabrizio Bosso, an incredibly gifted young Jazz trumpeter from Milano! The music of this album and particularly the title tune, “Vincenzo’s Market”, which I was inspired to compose while watching Vincenzo work the floor in his restaurant, hopefully reflect some of that joy of living which is a trademark of all things Italian. An exception is made for the tune “D.C. Beltway” which was inspired by this traffic congested area we live in. But alas, let’s think positive and despite the traffic, enjoy all the great places in the area, such as Vincenzo’s Italian Market. So, to you all, I say; visit Vincenzo’s place, go listen to some good live jazz somewhere and thank my countrymen for the many great things they have contributed to this country….A la vostra salute!
