Described as “impassioned and having a keen ear for phrasing, as well as an ability to make a gentle, sublime musical statement,” (Fort Worth Star-Telegram) Seattle, Washington based guitarist Jason Williams began studying guitar at age 12 learning a wide range of styles. Originally from Texas, Jason graduated from the University of North Texas, where he studied under Tom Johnson. In addition, Jason’s studies led him to Spain where he took lessons at the home of Jose Luis Rodrigo, from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Madrid as well as studies with British virtuoso and scholar Stanley Yates. He has performed in master classes with some of the worlds greatest guitarist — such as David Russell, Eliot Fisk, Eduardo Fernandez, Scott Tennant and Costas Cotsiolis and recently prepared for this recording working with the exemplary Seattle guitarist Kevin Callahan.
Jason made his professional debut with the Dallas Classic Guitar Society and has since performed to enthusiastic audiences throughout his native Texas and the Northwest. Noted for his powerful and moving performances, Jason as been praised by the Seattle Classic Guitar Society for his “effortless technique, mastery of all voices and nuances of the guitar, and his impeccable musicianship.”
Currently Jason teaches at the Rosewood Guitar in Seattle and is on the guitar faculty at Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA.
