Jared Bartman''s "I Refute Technology" is a four-song study in song arrangement, in which Bartman and his bandmates Erik Juhl and Aaron Kavelman present four completely different versions of Bartman''s intentionally hypocritical appraisal of modernity, "I Refute Technology". The first version is a chaotic electronic-based version, the second, an angular twentieth-century music influenced and acoustic percussion-laden version. The third version is a toe-tapping 1920''s French jazz ensemble version. The record concludes in a splendidly frightening sound collage comprised completely of tracks from the previous three songs. The album was recorded at Pogo Studios in Champaign, Illinois by accomplished sound engineer Mark Rubel.
Jared Bartman was born in Princeton, Illinois in June of 1988. Bartman and his bandmates Erik Juhl and Aaron Kavelman aspire to further the scope of modern music, infusing Bartman’s songs with a sundry assortment of influences, ranging from independent lyrical folk to 20th century post-tonal compositions to lush Afro-Cuban rhythms.
