Details:
Originally conceived as a folksy, new-age-concept album, "A Symphony for Sammy G" developed into one giant 28 minute book-ended song/opera. In reality, "the Symphony" is actually only one song, but, for editorial purposes, it has been divided up into 13 separate movements. The idea behind the Symphony was to bring all different kinds of folk, new age, world, and folk-blues music together into one place.
Based on the lesser known eclectic works of James, Alex and Livingston Taylor, Don Grolnick, Arnold MCuller, James Pankow, BB King, Gregg "Fingers" Taylor, Terry Kath, Jackson Browne, CSN&Y, the Eagles, Dan Dugmore, Leland Sklar, Danny Kortchmar, the Subdudes, Marc O''Conner, Pierre Bensusan, Robben Ford, David Wilcox, Martin Simpson, the Chieftans, Bunny Wailer, David Lindley and other members of the infamous "Section," the Symphony is designed to sooth the soul. The song was written and performed by original Blue Steel 44 lead guitarist, Phil "PJ" Wells. The entire Symphony was recorded in the home studio of Phil and Matt Wells, and demonstrates the versatility and emotional depth of Phil Wells as a guitarist and artist.
