Details:
Mark Todd is a visual artist/designer and author who now, with prison songs, under the name Henry and the Habits, extends his warped sensibility to music. He is known for his off-kilter writing of trailer park tragedies and murder set in a visual darkness of scuffed surfaces and scarred women, as seen in his books The Girls of Rippey and Phantom Pain.
There should be no mistake….this is rough around the edges. Not a polished musician, he has set his spoken word stories in spare settings, roughly recorded. The stories are mostly drawn from his own experiences. Well, mostly. On occasion, for Can’t Get No Peace and Hardbodies, he has called on friend and musician RC Banks for some real guitar playing. But for the most part, Todd himself is screeching away and squeezing the life out of the instruments…..and stories.
