Details:
After the debacle of FBI, in 1986 Root Jackson hit on the idea to put some of the original members of FBI back together, hence came the name Unfinished Business.
The new band consisted of Root on vocals and percussion, Alan Fealdman (ex-FBI) keyboards, Andy Hamilton saxaphones, Busta Jones bass, Winston Delandro guitar, Richard Bailey drums/Steve Dixon (ex-FBI) drums. They were later joined by Collette (Bonnie) Wilkinson (ex-FBI) on vocals.
In addition to becoming one of London''s most popular live attractions, the eclectic Unfinished Business released an album, 1991''s Freestyle on the Kongo Dance label. Their music is best exemplified on the anthemic opener ''Keep the music live''. Here, Root''s lived-in, gritty soul vocals combines with jazzy sax, to deliver a strong hook over a lurching, steady mid-tempo backdrop of funky bass, guitar and drums. Andy Hamilton''s sax solos deserve special mention, as does the stinging guitar work of Winston Delandro on tracks like the rock/blues ''Need your love so bad''. A superbly played, refreshingly "live" debut.
The band is acknowledged to having some of the most accomplished musicians within London''s live music scene. Playing an ''organic'' fusion of rock, blues, reggae and raw funk combined with African vibes, Unfinished Business will prick up your ears and make you shuffle your feet to their innovative music.
The new album ''Funkin with da blues''due for release in March 2002 on Congo, pays tribute to Root''s 30 years in the music business. It is a skilful masterpiece of musical wizardry from a well-respected artist who knows and proves his stuff. Jackson sings the blues with deep soul alongside complimenting orchestral vibes from live musicians, strong horns, steel pan, drumming and harmonica. He time capsules that world-renowned unique quality nicely with a strong futuristic qualitive feel. Collette Wilkinson''s vocals have developed and matured into a Dusty Springfield-like melodic passion punctuating sweet horns, Root''s deep velvet vocals and African inspired rhythms.
