Troy Horne, like Aretha Franklin, Al Green and Toni Braxton, began singing in the church choir at Greenspoint Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. From very early on, he knew that he wanted a career in music.
Influenced by various artists such as Sting, Peter Gabriel, Steve Winwood, Tracy Chapman and Ella Fitzgerald, Troy continued to pursue his career in music by attending Sam Houston University, and there starred in major musical productions including "Best Little Whorehouse In Texas" and "Mame". Troy''s talent was recognized after a performance of "Come Fly With Me" on Star Search.
Soon After, Troy met his writing partner, David Noel, when they happened to hear each other play while walking through their apartment complex. They started a band called the Malones, with Troy on lead vocals. Troy and David were able to create a montage of original songs that combined the elements of smooth, jazzy blues and alternative folk.
The Malones'' style was very well received in Los Angeles clubs and venues like The Whisky, The Troubadour, Highland Grounds, Luna Park and The Mint. A loyal following quickly emerged for the group.
Troy Horne''s music has been praised by the industry. His original and beautiful lyrics have had audiences demanding more of this talented artist.
