Details:
Mike Trailwalker Wilson, a singer/songwriter of Cherokee descent, presents his debut CD, "Native Country". Wilson''s music is comprised of "classic" country melodies and arrangements with Native American themes and sentimentalities. His deep baritone vocal style is remniscient of Johnny Cash or Waylon Jennings.
Of the 11 tracks on the CD, 9 were penned by Wilson. The songs on "Native Country" range from the sad recountance of the Cherokee people''s genocidal forced march in 1839 in "It Was On the Trail of Tears", to the lighthearted humor of "The Frybread Boogie". Also included are the moving anthem of the Lakota Sioux''s greatest icon, "The Ballad of Crazy Horse", and a cover of Johnny Cash''s "Custer", a hilarious take on the anti-hero of the battle of Little Big Horn.
Wilson, now residing in North Carolina, recorded "Native Country" at Ghost Hawk Studios in Berwick, ME, owned and operated by artist/producer Bruce Hilton. Hilton''s "Ghost Hawk Music Productions" is a company which records and promotes predominantly Native American Artists from the New England area.
