Patrick Dyer Wolf graduated from Middletown, Connecticut''s own Wesleyan University in 2007 with a double major in music and Italian Studies. His 16-track senior recital, "Before I Fell Asleep," played to an inspired, appreciative SRO audience at Wesleyan''s World Music Hall on April 22, 2007.
He then moved with his girlfriend Mary into her family''s converted boathouse in Madison, Connecticut, called Little Gem – the title of a 6-track album he produced there, within earshot of the Long Island Sound''s waters.
In the fall of 2007, Patrick went coast-to-coast, in pursuit of the embrace of a culture of emergent music. He and Mary settled in San Francisco''s Richmond district, and he''s been making outstanding music there ever since, painting vivid personal, political and journalistic pictorials. While Mary plans to attend medical school in the fall, Patrick continues to ponder lingering doubts about his future as a musician-provider.
Even the casual listener, though, might have to admit this soulful singer-songwriter is onto something profoundly and refreshingly appealing. Along with lyrical wit and inventiveness, his allure rests on a passionate and pure baritone, exquisitely honed guitar and keyboard instrumentation and a blessedly deft sense of when to orchestrate or minimalize the canvas.
