Details:
Since 1971, the primary mission of the Plymouth Fife and Drum Corps remains unchanged: to preserve the ancient art of fifing and drumming through the musical education and high-level performance of its members, aged twelve to eighteen.
The Corps wears the uniform of the Commander-in-Chief''s Guard of 1776-1783, a prestigious unit that protected the life and important documents of General George Washington. Members carry flags and weaponry from the Revolutionary Period, and use 10-hole wooden fifes and rope-tension drums.
The Corps performs forty to fifty times per year, and has played at such places as the Statue of Liberty, Independence Hall, and on the Ellipse at the White House.
This recording is the result of more than just the performers listed. In it you will hear the influence of numerous alumni who worked hard to perfect the stirring music during their time in the Corps. Thanks go out to all who gave a part of their life in support of the Corps!
