Details:
Randy Auxier’s second solo CD, released in 2005. A collection of a dozen original songs, with one traditional ditty. The recording features performances by Jonathan Byrd (half a dozen different instruments on eight tracks), Bruce Chandler, Mark Stoffel, Wil Maring, Brian Kelso Crow, Ray Maring, Dan Schingel, Ryan Hesketh, and Kelly Booth. This recording is dedicated to the memory and on-going legacy of Dave Carter (1952-2002), the finest singer/songwriter of his generation. Dave blazed a path for songwriters and erstwhile poets who had been too timid to relish the full range of the language and its symbols, who had been afraid to reach in song for the spirit that animates the universe. Not so much the songs themselves on this recording, but the willingness to explore musically and lyrically in new directions characterizes this recording. The relations among chords, melodies and lyrics are intended to raise questions without forcing answers. And the might be called “celebratory melancholy” –what if being in a contemplative frame of mind is mostly pleasant? And this CD is not without its playful side, as in the songs “Raven” and “Ode to Kamp Nekkid.” For more information, vist the Redbud Hill website.
