Tonya Marie has mass appeal because her writing touches upon universal themes and emotions. She has performed at venues, conferences and schools throughout the country and has appeared on local and national radio and television programs. Tonya Marie is an accomplished spoken word recording artist. She participated in the Second Annual NARAS Pitchathon and Industry Showcase. She also performed before over 16,000 fans at SISTAHS 2001, sponsored by Power 99 FM in Philadelphia, and opened for Platinum recording artist MUSIQ SOULCHILD (Summer 2001).
In December 2000, Tonya Marie was first runner-up in the Philadelphia-area Def Poetry Jam auditions. Her recordings are featured at https://www.tradebit.com and her song, I Will Tell Myself, was selected for various corporate promotional campaigns.
