This New Avenues collection is an expression of admiration and encouragement for America from a northern neighbor. The songs intentionally reflect a variety of musical styles. What they have in common is the sounding of hope - prevailing - through difficult times - hope for those who share so much in basic needs, even though their background, experience, and, yes, even musical tastes may vary widely.
There is expressed here a belief that there is in us a desire and ability, not just to survive, but to thrive, and that our lives do not need to be determined by circumstances or ''forces'' - economic (greed) or otherwise - but that our lives can and need to be shaped by the boundless spirit in us. From the chorus of the title track:
