Jim Larsen and Robert Pacheco got together in 1992 to write some songs and play a few gigs. Larsen was a 20 year veteran of the Canadian music industry having played with many bands over the years, one of which was 70s/80s Epic recording artists, Hellfield.
Pacheco had been bouncing around from band to band on the Canadian west coast for years as well. They found that Larsen''s sense of melody and Pacheco''s knack for writing lyrics complemented each other well and have been writing together ever since.
In 2003 they released their first CD of original material simply entitled "The Mustangs". Almost all of the instruments on the recording were played by Larsen and Pacheco as well as background midi orchestrations arranged and programmed by the two. It was also recorded and produced by the two in their own home studio.
Their music has been labeled "Country Rock" by some, but although it does contain elements of those two genres, it is also much more than that, incorporating elements of folk, blues, pop and just about every other category of music giving it a unique sound. They have just released their brand new self titled CD featuring 10 new Mustangs songs.
