Fredrik Hörström | Moving Hands Magazine | May 2003 | Sweden | https://www.tradebit.com
" I could go on and on describing beautiful songs, and things that impress me, but I stop here and recommend a listen. "
Elegy | April 2003 | France
" To listen and listen again to this admirable musical surprise evokes names like Black Tape for a Blue Girl or Arcana, even though Thy Veils lacks voice interpretation. But the luxuriance has always been present, as well as the diversity, the purity of the sound, the clarity of it all. "
D-Side | April 2003 | France
" The Diaphanous Depression is by any means a contemplative music masterpiece. "
Whisper | Shadowplay Magazine | May 2003 | Russia | https://www.tradebit.com
" [...] Undoubtedly, the music has a similar atmosphere as the one of the golden era of Dead Can Dance. This album strikes with its purity combining two beginnings - Ethno and Ambient. [...] "
Michael Riddik | The Fossil Dungeon | March 2003 | U.S.A. | https://www.tradebit.com
" Beautifully composed neo-classical orchestrations touching on new age and gothic elements with various cultural tonalities. A resonant tapestry of melancholic moods and environments, composed by Romanain artist Daniel Dorobantu. Featuring nice atmospheric artwork and design. An excellent release! "
Rik | Flux Europa | January 2003 | U.K. | https://www.tradebit.com
" [..] it''s dark filmic music of the highest quality. Some of the tracks are short but no less interesting interludes between longer pieces. Darkly romantic atmospheric pads sweep us along. It''s somewhere between neoclassical and ambient with delicious Eastern inflections coming in on ''Night Desert''. [..] Other tracks show equal mastery of sound sculpting and manipulation [..] "
Dead Angel #55 | January 2003 | U.S.A. | https://www.tradebit.com
" This is electronic music for people who claim they can''t stand electronic music -- an album whose use of electronic sounds so closely rivals the sound of acoustic instruments that most would never realize it was composed and played on a PC. [..] The classical motifs and structures are elegant and well-executed [..] Dorobantu''s talent as a composer is sufficient that it may well make him known outside of Romania [..] he shouldn''t remain obscure much longer. Followers of electronic music with classical roots would be well-advised to investigate [..] "
Mike Ventarola | Starvox | December 2002 | U.S.A. | https://www.tradebit.com
" This Romanian artist manages to merge World Fusion, Neo-Classical and Ambient in unique and creative ways, similar to Midnight Syndicate, Zoar or A Murder of Angels. [...] Thy Veils is differentiated from other artists because of the free utilization of Middle Eastern tones and church gongs that punctuate the forlorn and seductive at the same time. It is as though the gypsy lore of Romania have been developed and crafted into each track. The overall impression from this recording is breathtaking as it takes us through the many layers of mystery, suspense, tension and forbidden sensuality. It is a highly recommended body of work for those who enjoy the more ethereal dark music in the underground with a full body of sound and texture. "
Mistress McCutchan | Morbid Outlook | December 2002 | U.S.A. | https://www.tradebit.com
" Orchestral ambient from Romania. This dark grandeur is highly recommended to fans of ambient and neo-classical. "
Bullethead | Dark Ambient | December 2002 | U.S.A | https://www.tradebit.com
" [..] I can only say listening to this electronic performance, and its 19 short tracks reveal a sense of mysticism. With dark percussion and keyboard driven gothic soundscapes, Thy Veils awakens an inner voice. [..] This music is timeless, each track feels longer than it actually is, as this is the true test of atmospheric music. And Thy Veils has succeeded in his quest to project to the listener emotional and meaningful music. "
Matt Rowe | MusicTAP | November 2002 | U.S.A. | https://www.tradebit.com
" Daniel Dorobantu, the architect of "The Diaphanous Depressions", explores the inner arena of man. An arena where fear walks unopposed; where hate, disgust and every diseased thought is an opponent waiting to exert supremacy over the man''s moral merry go round. [...] There are 19 songs on this disc, each an exploration. With skilful use of the instruments to produce an atmosphere, Daniel Dorobantu runs the emotional ride from softly foreboding to erratic flight. [..] If you like the ambient structures of a lost world where no one survives and only death rules, then "The Diaphanous Depressions" is your soundtrack. I look forward to new material by Thy Veils in the future. "
Grégory Bouak | Le Fantastique | October 2002 | France | https://www.tradebit.com
" The Diaphanous Depressions is a unique musical experience, which at the beginning risks to confuse you but it''s worth the effort. "
Doru Atomei | Kogaionon #6 | Romania | https://www.tradebit.com
" [...] It is for the first time I hear a voice exactly on the first track and I think it should be insisted on since the sound reached another subtle differentiation. [...] As far as what else I should say ... a sober atmosphere but an obscure one. It is a new challenge come from Daniel''s horizon I did accept and, honestly, I have no shades of regret! Why shouldn''t you try? "
Negru | Negura #2 | Romania | https://www.tradebit.com
" This fourth Thy Veils material marks definitely something significant for the spiritual evolution of its music. It''s not at all that in the past there was a concept of something missing, but more that this time everything goes far beyond, opening new spheres both by intention and by the extent of which that intention goes into the reality as well... And what a musical reality on this album! ... "
Rik | The Violet Collection | U.S.A. | https://www.tradebit.com
" Continuing to work largely in a neo-classical vein, Thy Veils has created another stunning work. The Diaphanous Depressions is a powerful collection of eastern flavoured songs, each one more impressive than the last. As a writer, Daniel is able to expertly build a song around a simple idea or melody, and add just enough to create something growing, changing, morphing, until it takes on a life of its own. [...] In addition to creating a very emotive and very passionate imagery, his compositions are rich, impressive, and evocative, and are sure to stand out in your mind long after they''re done. Listening to The Diaphanous Depressions, I''m sure you''ll agree. "

" Daniel, the one behind Romanian THY VEILS must be an utterly talented musician and individual. It''s the first time I hear anything from this act, however this release is not the debut one. [...] This act must be heard outside Romania, it''s impeccable. All hail THY VEILS, praise the emotional ambience and support Eastern Europe! "
Branko Rogoic | Rock Express # 34/35 | June 2002 | Yugoslavia | https://www.tradebit.com
" Thy Veils is a solo project of the charismatic Romanian keyboarder Daniel Dorobantu. The instrumental, atmospheric and (mainly) dark music lives in the land of doom and ambient gothic offering closed windows to the noisy listeners and to others opens visions about a long past times. Two compositions are accompanied by lyrics, even though we cannot speak about singing but more about a mystical narration with allegoric reminiscent of the Romanian artist. Musically speaking, the album can be included in the modern classical music genre, but more mystical and atmospheric. " 9/10
