"The Lash is not one of those wannabe bands that jumped out of the woodwork to hop on the Riverdance bandwagon; it''s a real deal Celtic rock band." The Rock Island Argus, Rock Island IL
Celtic music is enjoying unprecedented popularity. The Lash, a distinctly American band, has adopted the Irish sound and fused it with rock and roll, resulting in a turbo driven take on traditional music. The band combines folk instruments like accordion, banjo, and cittern with guitars, bass, and drums. The result is unlike anything else found on the music scene. In bars, nightclubs, and theaters all across the country, The Lash has been entertaining packed rooms with a show they call Celtic Mayhem.
The Lash has shared the stage with traditional Irish acts (The Clancy Brothers, John Whelan, Eileen Ivers), fellow Celtic rock bands (Black 47, Gaelic Storm, Flogging Molly), and even stadium rockers (Huey Lewis & the News, Train, Hootie and The Blowfish). Their music quite literally knows no boundaries. The Lash has performed on both coasts of the United States and most points in between. They spend over a third of every year in front of an audience.
Every Direction, the 2001 release by The Lash, was an exciting mix of traditional and contemporary sounds that combined Irish melodies with Cajun, Latin, and Rock rhythms. The band is currently in pre-production for their third CD, which promises to meld increasingly diverse influences into their already unique sound. In the meantime, The Lash continues to travel the country with their energy soaked live show, hammering out an even bigger circle of fans. From the first crack of the snare drum to the final sigh of the accordion, at open air festivals and sweaty neon pubs, audiences are enjoying the distinctive version of rocked out Irish music that The Lash calls Celtic Mayhem.

"The Lash is that rare band that manages to have it both ways- they bring together the fire and fury of rock and roll with the mysterious, otherworldly joys and sorrows of traditional Celtic music and the results are strong and engaging fun." Capitol Times Lansing, MI
