THEE HEAVENLY MUSIC ASSOCIATION are best described as an interesting musical alternative to the lack of art and originality which permeates the current mainstream music scene. Drawing their influences from sources as eclectic as La Monte Young, Can, Joy Division, Neu!, Brian Eno, and Kate Bush, the resulting seductive cacophony is a mix that is often compared to bands such as Cocteau Twins, Radiohead, Velvet Underground, My Bloody Valentine, and The Jesus and Mary Chain.
Principal and founding band members Hellen Storer (guitar/vocals) and David Hillis (guitars, keyboards) create their own unique and hypnotic sound from a mix of their diverse influences and backgrounds. Hellen has lived most of her life in Manchester, England, and toured worldwide with bands such as the Sex Pistols, Marilyn Manson, and Foo Fighters while still a teenager playing bass in Fluffy. She has also played in the bands Jack off Jill and Fireball Ministry. David, meanwhile, was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, and after relocating to Seattle, played in bands Mace and Sybil Vane. He has also engineered records for Afghan Whigs, Pearl Jam, and Alice in Chains, amongst others. Drummer Dave Krusen played in Pearl Jam previously.
Their captivating independent debut album "Shaping the Invisible" takes its name from Leonardo Da Vinci''s definition of music itself, and will be released with an extra bonus track in 2005 by REHASH RECORDS.
