Details:
Tanya Brody can''t remember a time she wasn''t singing. From childhood on she was acting and singing on stage, in school and professionally around Minneapolis, MN where she grew up. At 13 she joined the Bel Canto Voices, a professional girls choir that toured around the country and internationally. At 14 she joined the entertainment staff at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival and performed with a guitar on the street. Soon after she was given a harp for the holidays, which became her primary instrument. She performed around Minneapolis, and then branched out by going to the Carolina Renaissance Festival in 1994. That launched her Renaissance Festival Circuit career. Tanya has branched out from her Renaissance roots into other venues including Scottish Games, Folk Festivals libraries and Colleges with her new Celtic band, The Muses. Check out her web page to see where they might be playing near you.
Not Your Average...Anything is Tanya''s most recent album. With 7 out of 10 songs being original and having added a verse or two elsewhere, Tanya starts to show more of her poet''s soul and musician''s heart. Henry and Susie explores what we all should have said to that person who broke up with us by saying, "We can still be friends." Choose Joy was written upon the death of Tanya''s friend Barbara Ann (Bodge) Burniski-Shelton who was queen at the Arizona Renaissance Festival, Sterling Faire and King Richard''s Faire among her many acting credits, and whom Tanya had the frequent pleasure of singing with. Any Child''s Lullaby is a heart warming look at new motherhood which Tanya wrote for the birth of a friend''s child. Tanya''s husband Matt (producer and sound engineer for the album) claims that Witch of the West-Mer-Lands by Archie Fisher is easily as good as Loreena McKennit''s Lady of Shallot. This album shows a Harper/Singer/Songwriter well on her way from bud to bloom.
Tanya has been compared to Loreena McKennitt in vocal style, among others. Many people claim that she has "The voice of an angel". Music is Tanya''s first love and it comes across in her passionate playing.
